More storage space even in a small space
In large cities in particular, affordable housing with large living areas is becoming increasingly rare. In order not to completely overwhelm themselves with the new apartment, many fall back on a smaller but affordable apartment. But small does not mean little space. In order to get as much storage space as possible out of your home, we have summarized the best tips for your home here.

Less belongings means more storage space
As everyone knows, regular mucking out creates more space and storage space. For example, give old clothes a second life by donating them to a used clothing collection and freeing up space in your closet for new things. Like this, you not only do something good, but you can also enjoy something new. We have summarized how you can part with old things in a separate blog article.
In every room there is an opportunity to create storage space
Whether living room, kitchen, bathroom or bedroom, with a bit of creativity and craftsmanship, new storage areas can be created in every room.
Tip 1: kitchen cabinets
Have you ever thought about the kitchen cabinets? We often simply stack pots, bowls and the like on top of each other according to size. The top is then formed by a stack of lids of different sizes. But how would it be if exactly the pot lids, sponges, dishwashing brushes, storage foil, garbage bags and the like got a new place on the kitchen cupboard door?
What you need for this:
- Small plastic containers (not too deep)
- Pencil and scissors
- Painter’s crepe for alignment
- Double sided clear tape
And this is how it’s done:
- Thoroughly wash the previously purchased containers and do not touch the side to be glued again.
- Cut off suitable strips of adhesive tape and press them on for at least 5 seconds.
- For better adhesion, it is advisable to also thoroughly clean the inside of the cabinet door. Now use painter’s crepe and a pencil to mark where the containers are to be attached. IMPORTANT: These must not be placed at the height of the shelves.
- As soon as the perfect position is found, you can start gluing.
- Press the container down firmly and let it sit for a while before filling it – the new storage space behind closed doors is ready.
You can even buy ready-made systems for pot lids and other kitchen utensils. With a bit of skill, you can also make them yourself. Of course, the procedure described above can also be used in other rooms and closets – just try it out.
Tip 2: Optimize storage space with crates, boxes and the like
Boxes, crates, cartons and baskets, in the color that matches the furnishings, not only create additional storage space and fill out shelves optimally, but can also be part of the decoration. These can be placed under the bed, on cupboards that are not ceiling high and on open shelves, for example.
Tip 3: storage space under the bed
If you’re already one of those people who have a fold-out bed base or drawers under the slatted frame, you’ll definitely appreciate this storage space. If this is not the case, help is at hand: just get some flat boxes with wheels. For example, you can stow duvets, ski clothing, etc. in these and simply hide them under the bed.
Of course, we have another tip for you for things that you don’t use very often – use clothes bags that can be vacuumed, because that way you can put even more blankets and clothes in the boxes under the bed.
Tip 4: Off to the wall – storage space to screw on and design individually
Think beyond the head end and the classic shelf assembly, because ceilings and walls are usually a bit higher. For example, build a new shelf around the door frame and use the available space up to the ceiling. The argument that an average person will then no longer get to the top shelves doesn’t count. Finally, there are helpers such as step stools and ladders.
Conclusion:
There are no useless corners and slopes, you just have to know how to use them. So make sure that your cupboards and shelves go all the way to the ceiling and that there are no shortage of boxes that provide additional storage space.
