The time may finally have come to embark on that two-year trip around the world you’ve dreamed of since you were a child. Everything is perfectly organized, but what happens to your belongings in the meantime? How should you store your furniture? Just keep paying the rent for that? There are cheaper alternatives out there.

You don’t have to dream of the big, wide world to suddenly find yourself in the situation of having to outsource your belongings. A simple burst water pipe is enough and the catastrophe is complete. Now it’s time to store your furniture and save your property as quickly as possible. Or a total renovation of the apartment is pending. In this case, too, the motto is: get rid of the household goods so that the work can start. And finally: reaching your financial limits can happen to anyone. Until the bottleneck is bridged, solutions for the temporary storage of household goods are required – and they also have to be affordable.

In a word – there are many reasons for storing one’s property. The question is how?

There are a number of alternatives. The first thought is usually towards parents or other relatives. This often leads to conflicts, especially when those addressed hardly have enough space themselves. And then also store other household goods? But even if they agree to do so, more or less happily, the result is often unsatisfactory. The valuable equipment often ends up in the dark and moldy basement or the damp garage and rots away there.

Finally, there is renting a small warehouse, office or private space. The conditions of accommodation are usually satisfactory in this case, but you usually chain yourself to a long-term rental contract that you can’t get rid of so quickly, even if you no longer need the premises. Storing furniture with this arrangement can quickly develop into a full-blown cost trap.
