So that you can move into your new home with joy, relaxation and energy to get started, we have summarized some valuable tips for you from the design to the arrangement and furnishing of the new home.

STEP 1: Preparation is half the battle
You have certainly heard this sentence several times – but since a lot of things are easier with good preparation, it makes sense to start planning your move in early. In order to be able to offer you some pointers for an optimal move-in, we have put together a small checklist for you:
- Inform employer about the move and request moving days
- If necessary, apply for leave
- Allow time buffer for unexpected organizations
- Ask possible helpers
- Organize tools, vehicles and transport utensils
- Inform possible providers such as insurance companies, road traffic department, etc. about the new address and apply for a change of address
STEP 2: Color, pattern and customization
White is boring? Then get busy with your creativity. What colors and patterns do you want in your new home? If you want a bright and colorful home, the painting work is best done when there are no furniture or fittings blocking the way to the still white wall.
TIP for a nice wall color:
- Don’t skimp on color quality
- With a well-covering wall paint you save several painting processes
- Use a good sealing tape to tape the edges and corners
- Optimal tools save trouble and unsightly stains
IMPORTANT! Wash brushes and paint rollers thoroughly immediately after use.
STEP 3: Arrive, distribute crates and assemble furniture
A clear and clean labeling of the moving boxes saves you a lot of work right from the start when distributing them. First of all, simply place all the boxes with a clear allocation of space in their future location. Once you have finished distributing it, we come to assemble and place the furniture. Here we proceed similarly to the distribution of the boxes. Once the pieces of furniture have been assembled, they are carried to its future room. Don’t worry about their orientation just yet. Appropriate placement, its orientation and appearance follows when all the furniture is assembled and placed in its future space.
IMPORTANT! Keep the entrance area and the room entrances as free as possible so that there are no tripping hazards, broken glass and obstacles.
STEP 4: Align furniture, unpack and store boxes
Once all the furniture, boxes and utensils have found their future space, you can start aligning, unpacking and putting away. In order not to contribute a little but not really properly everywhere, it is advisable to take on one room after the other. Start with the room that is most important to you.
TIP for coordinated and correct unpacking and storage:
- First, align your furniture
- Then unpack one box after the other
- Immediately place the objects and utensils you have picked up in their future place
- Once all items have been placed, move on to the next room
STEP 5: Re-register, register and adjust contracts and insurance
Once you have arrived in your new home, you should still deregister from your old municipality and register in the new one. You can first set up a forwarding order for Swiss Post. Don’t forget to give your new address to everyone involved, providers and important contacts. Of course, this also applies to insurance companies, internet and electricity providers, employers and banks.
CONCLUSION:
Plan enough time for your stress-free and optimal move-in without a guilty conscience, for its decoration, organization and conscientious execution. Good preparation saves you not only trouble but also nerves and time.
